Patriotic Place Mats

These place mats are so freaking easy and perfect to whip up! Decorate your table this Summer with colorful pride! Simple 3 double crochet clusters in a row is the stitch that makes these place mats.

I used Hobby Lobby 'I Love This Yarn' in Red, Royal and White. Then for the simple single crochet and double crochet border, I used 'Old Glory'. I think they turned out absolutely awesome!

These fantastic place mats will look good in any color combination you choose!

Finished Size: 12" x 18 1/2" (incl borders)

Hook Size: H8/5mm

Gauge: one 3dc-cluster is just over 1/2 an inch

ch 60

1) sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 1, sk next ch, sc in next ch, repeat across

2) ch 3, turn, *3-dc-cluster in next ch1sp, ch 1, repeat across

3) ch 1, turn, sc in 1st ch1sp, *ch 1, sc in next ch1sp, repeat across

4) ch 3, turn, *3-dc-cluster in next ch1sp, ch 1, repeat across

Change color as you like, however be sure each color is a combination of row 3 and 4.

Special Stitch: 3-dc-cluster
yarn over, insert hook in next ch1sp, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over again and draw through only 2 loops on the hook. Repeat 2 more times using the same ch1sp then yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on the hook.
